Goyana Evolves: A New Chapter of Brazilian Vibes and Italian Flavor in East Harlem

We’re entering a new and delicious chapter!
Bar Goyana is going back to its roots — focusing on what started it all: a creative cocktail bar serving innovative drinks and Brazilian-inspired shared bites in a cozy, colorful, music-filled space.
As part of this exciting new chapter, Goyana will now focus exclusively on cocktails and small bites — with Feijoada still served on weekends! But don’t worry — your favorite main dishes will return for special holidays and can also be arranged for private events by request.
Right next door, in the original MOJO Mousse Bar space, we’re thrilled to introduce GIRASOLE Trattoria — a brand-new Italian concept by Chef Johan. Girasole brings the warmth and soul of a traditional trattoria to East Harlem, with classic Italian dishes made from high-quality ingredients, heartfelt techniques, and Chef Johan’s signature touch. With the recent closure of our neighborhood’s only Italian spot, we knew it was time to bring these flavors home. Girasole offers full Italian dinner service – and lunch on the weekends, now seamlessly paired with Goyana’s cocktail program.
These changes complement the launch of Café D’Anvers, Chef Johan’s Belgian bistro featuring rustic Belgian comfort food, monk-brewed artisanal beers and of course, the beloved MOJO chocolate mousses that started it all.

Goyana remains the heart of the experience — a glowing, Brazilian-inspired cocktail bar stacked with craft cachaças, exotic liqueurs and house-made syrups. The space is filled with energy, art, and vibrant colors — including a mural celebrating iconic Brazilian women like Abapuru by Tarsila do Amaral, quotes by Cora Coralina and a radiant portrait of Carmen Miranda.

Signature cocktails include The Goyana – aged cachaça infused in house with fresh pinneapple, passion fruit, and Baunilha do Cerrado, a rare vanilla from Jaqueline’s family farm in Goiás. El Barrio Tropical – a spicy mango margarita paying homage to East Harlem. Belgian Fashion – an old fashioned with bourbon and chocolate bitters bringing in the Belgian touch.

Small plates continue to celebrate Brazilian flavors, like the imported grilled curd cheese with black truffle honey and stuffed pão de queijo with parmesan and jalapeño.
Come explore this new and delicious trio of flavors — whether you’re in the mood for a Brazilian cocktail, a classic Italian pasta or some crispy Belgian frites.
